Parkinson's Disease Related Links for Researchers

The mission of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is to reduce the burden of neurological disease - a burden borne by every age group, by every segment of society, by people all over the world. NINDS conducts, fosters, coordinates, and guides research on the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological disorders and stroke, and supports basic research in related scientific areas.

The Movement Disorder Society (MDS) is an international professional society of clinicians, scientists, and other healthcare professionals, who are interested in Parkinson's disease, related neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders, hyperkinetic movement disorders, and abnormalities in muscle tone and motor control. MDS offers an essential link to the new knowledge on diagnostic information, pharmacological and neurosurgical treatments for movement disorders, as well as impaired motor control function.

The PDGene database is a publicly available comprehensive, unbiased and regularly updated collection of genetic association studies performed on various Parkinson’s disease phenotypes.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson’s today. Information is provided by PD patients for other patients and their caregivers.
